PROJEKT VIRAL CREW PHOTOGRAPHER
HOMETOWN:SAN FRANCISCO,MISSION BAY
DAMIEN LOYOLA A.K.A. MISTER DEMO
As a young boy I was urged to be street
smart, this was necessary growing up on 24th street. The constant Sirens, Crime,
Wynos, Dope fiends, Dealers spitting drugs out their mouth, Nortenos on every
corner, and the transients sleeping on the streets or pissing on walls was
normal. While on the other hand the Mission District had Culture, beautiful
murals, Victorian style homes with great detail, the annual Carnaval every May,
and Galleria Da La Raza was my favorite place to be on Dia De Los
Muertos.
I've been surrounded by art all my life
if i wasn't illustrating, I was flipping through magazines tearing out pages
that caught my attention, watching my parents play their instruments getting
ready for gigs, or studying my father dance to Cumbia, Salsa, and El Tri.
At the age of 14 I picked up a camera
put it down at 19 and picked it back up at 26 with the idea of a new medium. I
started by photographing everything, yet nothing was interesting to me as
documentary style photography. Little editing, unforced emotions and
environment define my work. This current year, I've had many great
opportunities arise which I'm very thankful for. I've met genuine people that
are interested in my photographs, made solid networks and created bonds with
some. The following year I plan to step out the box break photography rules and
get creative shit I'm an artist. LOL
I've also managed to hook up with
Projekt Mecha a worldwide art network that represents many artist from around
the world. My longterm goal is to one day have a dual show in Long Beach Ca
with photographer Jose Coesk Alcaraz, a show in Singapore and of course a show
in Frisco, but in order to do that I need to produce more work so until then it’s
just practice, practice and practice!
